ABSTRACT
This article presents a close study on the ethics of alterity based on the notion of «face». Firstly, this concept will enable us to examine in detail the constitution of alterity relationship following a pragmatic and linguistic focus. Furthermore, this reflective study will lead to an analysis of «face» both as word and discourse, concluding with a study on Levinas’s concept of responsibility. Finally, keeping in line with this notion, this study will analyse topical issues related to the sense and meaning of Emmanuel Levinas’s ethics of alterity.
