ABSTRACT
Merit is a moral value very present in our society. Around it, we have a specific social model: meritocracy. Usually, we think that to a large extent merit and meritocracy are part of an egalitarian society, in which everybody is treated, in the access to social positions, by their capabilities and not by arbitrary elements like social or cultural background, etnics, sex, physical appearance, religious believes or ideology. But, paradoxically, merit and meritocracy have a very little compromise with the value of equality.
