Author Guidelines

IMPORTANT NOTICE: No article will be considered definitively approved until the authors have adapted it to the publication standards listed here, and until they completed all the metadata.

1. E-mail address for consults: dieguez@uma.es

  • Contributions must be sent in two MicrosoftWord documents: One containing the manuscript (written in Times 12), an abstract in Spanish and an English version (of no more than 100 words each), 4-5 key words, and footnotes (written in Times 10); the other one including the author’s personal data, postal and e-mail addresses as well as the institution or society to which the author is related, up to two publications, and his/her line of research.
  • Length of contributions: The text must be written in A-4 format, Times 12; footnotes in Times 10. STUDIES: text plus notes, abstract and references not exceeding 8000 words; CRITICAL TRANSLATIONS or RESEARCH RESOURCES: up to 7000 words; BIBLIOGRAPHICAL REPORTS: up to 7000 words; REVIEWS: between 200 and 1000 words.

2. The text must be edited in the simplest possible way to enable its adjustment and layout according to the journal style conventions.

  • Avoid dividing words, and also bold letters and underlining.
  • In the heading of the paper, it must be included the title of the paper, the author’s name, and the name of the institution to which the author is related.
  • The footnotes must be added at the bottom of the page, never at the end of the paper or in a different document. The number must be inserted after the punctuation marks, except in the cases of parentheses.
  • The divisions of the text must be marked with Roman numerals (I, II, III, etc.), and the subdivisions with Roman numerals followed by Arabic numerals (e.g. I.1, II.2). It is advisable not to divide the text in more than two levels (e.g. II.2.1.).
  • Italics will be used when quoting book titles, journals, or foreign words, as well as emphasizing terms. Italics should only affect these terms, but not the spaces or punctuation marks that precede or follow them.
  • Indentation and tabulation must not be introduced at the beginning of paragraphs. The end of paragraphs will be marked by pressing the RETURN or INTRO keys. Tabulation by using the space bar must be avoided as well. Should the author wish to insert an indented quotation, please make a hand-written note on a separate copy.
  • The location of charts, figures and graphs must be indicated in a separate file.
  • The term ibid. (in italics) is used to refer to the quotation right before it (it can be followed by a comma and the quoted pages); op .cit. (in italics), preceded by the name of the author, is used to refer to a book by this same author previously mentioned in the article; loc. cit. (in italics), preceded by the name of the author, is used to refer to an article or chapter by this same author previously mentioned in the article.
  • Avoid if possible the use of "cf.".
  • The use of generative IA in the writing of the article, including the abstract or bibliography, is not allowed. If the subject matter of the article requires citing a text written by AI, it must be expressly indicated.

  •

The use of generative AI is allowed as a tool to improve the language of the article and its readability applied to what was previously written by the author, without generating new content. The author must be responsible for the originality of the content.

3. Bibliographic references must be written in the following order:

  1. Using the Harvard Author-Date system (simplified)
  • Surname, gap and date (1st original edition or, where appropriate, translation). e.g.: (Gadamer 1977, pp. 31-74)

(This quotation style will be used both in footnotes and notes inserted in the text)

  • Final bibliographical references will be made by the Harvard Author-Date system. e.g.: ARENDT, H. 1958: The human condition. Chicago: The University of Chicago Press.
  • BOOKS:   HABERMAS, J. (1963), Theorie und Praxis. Frankfurt am Main: Suhrkamp.
  • ARTICLES:   ZAMBRANO, M. (1996), «Ausencia y presencia», Contrastes, I, pp. 7-10.
  • BOOK CHAPTERS:   KUHN, T.S. (1970), «Logic of Discovery or Psychology of Research?», in I. Lakatos y A. Musgrave (eds.), Criticism and the Growth of Knowledge. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, pp. 1-24.
  • IN THE FINAL REFERENCES, HYPHENS SHOULD NOT BE USED IN ORDER TO AVOID REPEATING THE AUTHORS' SURNAMES. THE SURNAME WILL BE PLACED IN EACH ENTRY.

Authors must send final revised versions of their papers.

Authors will receive a pdf file containing their contribution for future offprints.
