We cannot ignore the fact that the economic question is an inherent perspective in the relations between cinema and transnationality. In this sense, co-production is a key formula in the implementation of projects that justify the participation of professionals and resources from various territories. This text will present and assess the different formulas for supporting and financing documentary films by public or private entities for the configuration of a joint production space between Europe and Latin America, from programmes such as Ibermedia or DOCTV to funds linked to film festivals or state or regional aid. In addition, the role of producers on both sides of the Atlantic who weave the networks necessary for the implementation of these projects will be analysed.
