This essay summarizes and examines the curious and significant correspondence from 1976 to 1980 between María Zambrano and María Luisa Bautista, widow of José Lezama Lima. In their epistolary exchange, the interlocutors discuss philosophical ideas and aesthetic as well as social points of view. It includes opinions about Cuban reality and artistic judgments that enrich the biographies of three of them: the Cuban poet, her wife and the Spanish thinker.
