Abstract

We present a method of teaching Latín that is intended to be a synthesis of the traditional didactic procedure (based on the explanation of the grammar of the language in question and the reading, analysis and traslation of texts by classical authors with a dictionary at hand) and the method of Hans Øerberg (who advocats teaching Latin as if it were any living language). The linguistic productions that make it up are scrupulously chosen so that they are understandable and interesting to a young person of the 21st century. And they are ordered for reading aloud, listening, writing to dictation and understanding according to a weihted gradation of difficulties. It is based on the conviction that hearing is the sense of understanding, which allows us to learn our mother tongue and any of the others (dead or alive) that we learn: I understan why I hear; or if you prefer: I hear and therefore I understand.
