Exercising at different altitudes generates diverse physiological responses, affecting performance, perception of exertion, and hydration status. The study aimed to determine the behavior of hydration status in university athletes during a maximal aerobic power test at different altitudes. The study was quantitative, descriptive, and longitudinal. 24 male university athletes participated. The study was conducted at low (400 meters above sea level), medium (1,500 meters above sea level), and high (2,100 meters above sea level) altitudes. The variables analyzed were maximum oxygen consumption, perception of exertion, and hydration status. The main results showed significant differences in VO₂max between low and medium altitudes, with higher values at lower altitudes. Perception of exertion increased at higher altitudes. Regarding hydration, baseline values reflected severe dehydration, improving after breakfast and exercise. However, 60 minutes after the test, dehydration reappeared.
