Abstract: The logic of determinism is a kind of cosmic epic that tends to blend both metaphysics and literature, and can contribute to obscure the nature of the etical questions and, of course, the understanding of political affairs. Determinism provides not only metaphysics, but it is essentially a rhetoric of the unavoidable, and that always ends up having political consequences.
Key words: Determinism, freedom, necessity, effects, intentions, excuses, epic, narrative logic, human action, prudence, deliberation
