Publications Ethics

Metafísica y Persona declares that it subscribes to the Code of Ethics established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), available at publicationethics.org, in its publication processes, including all the actors involved: board of directors, editorial board, scientific advisory board, authors and reviewers.

Authorship
  • Texts submitted for publication must be the result of original and unpublished research, ensuring that the data and results presented have not been copied, invented, distorted or manipulated. Sufficient information must be provided so that any specialist can reproduce the research carried out and confirm or question the interpretations proposed in the work.
  • Authors must be aware of avoiding any scientific misconduct and respect ethics in publication. It is essential that authors present their results clearly, honestly and without unduly altering or manipulating the data.
  • Plagiarism in any of its forms, multiple or redundant publication, as well as the invention or manipulation of data, are serious breaches of ethics and are considered scientific fraud.
  • Authors must give appropriate credit and recognition. They must not deliberately distort the relationship of a researcher to the published work. All authors must have contributed significantly to the research.
  • Authors are required to inform the editor if there is any direct or indirect conflict of interest with the editors, members of the editorial team or the international scientific committee.
  • No substantial part of the submitted text must have been previously published, either as an article, chapter or review. Failing this, authors must provide an explanation in this regard in the Comments to the Editor at the beginning of the editorial process, that is, at the time of submission of the submission. It is the responsibility of the Editorial Team to deliberate on exceptional cases.
  • The submitted text must not be simultaneously under consideration by another journal or publisher.
  • If an author detects a serious error in his or her work, he or she is obliged to notify the journal as soon as possible in order to modify, withdraw, retract or correct the article by means of an errata.
  • If any member of the Editorial Committee identifies a possible error, the author must demonstrate the validity of his or her work.
  • All authors must actively participate in the peer review process for all submitted materials, although a corresponding author may be assigned.
About the editors

  • The entire Editorial Team will act impartially when managing the works proposed for publication and will respect the intellectual independence of the authors, recognizing their right to reply if their works receive a negative evaluation.

  • The members of the Editorial Team are obliged to maintain the confidentiality of the texts received and their content until their acceptance for publication has been confirmed. Only then may the title and authorship be disclosed.
  • No member of the Editorial Board may use for his or her own research the data, arguments or interpretations present in unpublished works, unless he or she has the express written consent of the author.

About research misconduct
The Editorial Board and the Board of Directors will take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of articles in which research misconduct has occurred, including, but not limited to, plagiarism, citation manipulation, and falsification or fabrication of data.
The Editorial Team of Metafísica y Persona will under no circumstances encourage or permit any misconduct.
In the event that any member of the Editorial Team becomes aware of any accusation of research misconduct related to an article published in their journal, the COPE guidelines (see above) regarding the subject will be followed.
