The Value of Critical Questioning Within the Community of Inquiry and the Organization of Education

This essay introduces some considerations on the importance of the theory of philosophical questioning as a tool to be sensitive to various educational contexts: knowing how to make relevant questions is paramount to find adequate solutions in the road of inquiry and in the educational organization. Even more so for the case of complex contemporary problems and the new demanding contexts in which educations strives to have an identity and critical self-control. In this paper, consequently, I propose a specific interpretation of John Rawls’ theory of ‘reflective equilibrium’ (1971) from a classical American pragmatism framework, in which inquiry is understood as a self-controlled process of discovering and interaction with reality. In addition, some examples from vector mathematics will be handy to illustrate our case, particularly the singular use I endeavor of reflective equilibrium.
