Abstract

This paper analyses certain disagreements between Wagner’s way of thinking and Nietzsche’s philosophy. It focuses mainly on a criticism put forward by the philosopher in The Case of Wagner and critically compares a fundamental idea of the revolutionary Wagner —his commitment to the emancipation of slaves— with  Nietzsche’s ideas regarding the necessity of slavery in any kind of superior culture, in all aristocratic societies, and in all kinds of human excellence

Joan B. Llinares, Universidad de Valencia

Joan B. LLINARES es Profesor Titular de Filosofía en la Universidad de Valencia. Ha traducido al catalán y al español distintos escritos de Nietzsche (Biblioteca Nueva, 2003) y de Wagner (Biblioeca Nueva). Ha escrito numerosos artículos sobre Nietzsche. Ha traducido y anotado el vol IV, F. Nietzsche, Fragmentos Póstumos (Tecnos, 2007, pp. 369-780). Ha participado en diversos volúmenes colectivos.
