Resumen

Este trabajo trata de la autoconciencia objetiva o autoatención. Antes de entrar en su exposición, se ubica en contexto histórico y temático, para su mejor conocimiento y comprensión. Después, se presenta la primera teoría que se formula sobre la autoconciencia objetiva (Duval y Wicklund, 1972, Wicklund, 1975, 1978) y se tratan unos conceptos elementales que ayudan a entenderla. A continuación se expondrán las teorías más relevantes que cabe agrupar bajo el nombre genérico de autoconciencia, no en toda su extensión, sino atendiendo en mayor medida a lo que tienen de innovador o complementario respecto a la formulación original.
