Preliminary "Teatinos" protocol for voice evaluation and functional diagnosis

The voice is one of the principal mechanisms used in human communication. lt depends on physiological and anatomical structures well described, which morphological or functional alteration can produce laryngeal damages that It is known as a type of pathology called dysphonia. The dysphonia is in the origin of many of the labour-falls that anually occur among people who frecuently use his voice to work , as teachers and sorne other professionals related to it. lt also affects people who usually make a wrong use of his voice. This behaviour could casuse them, along of the time, a vocal fatigue and a consistent dysphonic disorder. The treatment of this type of problem has to bear a previous otorhinolaryngological, speech-therapeutic and psycological evaluation to determine the aetiology of this mentioned trouble. The protocol “Teatinos” is a simple and easy proposal of evaluation and diagnosis that measures the principal parameters that influence on the correct use of the voice. Its purpose is to provide to students and specialists some useful trustworthy and homogeneus tools for dysphonic diagnosis and speech-therapy rehabilitation to help them in their clinical practice.
