Abstract

The present study research the importance of personal and organizational variables in the stress and burnout processes, as well as the role of hardy personality as negative predictor of these processes and their consequences. 107 Secondary teachers answered the CBP, the PVS, and a Health Questionnaire. Results confirmed the influence of organizational and personal variables in the explanation of these processes. More specifically, role stress could be classified as important cause of burnout. In addition, hardy personality was found as an inductor in adaptative coping, decreasing the probability of experiencing stress and burnout, and allowing the orientation to well-being and health.
