Since the publication of Descartes' Error, the figure of A. Damásio has only grown. Based on a review of his theses on the role of feelings, we propose to contribute to the construction of the causal chains that mediate between emotions and feelings, on the one hand, and the accumulation of cultural representations and practices, on the other. To this end, we underline the importance of the emergence in our lineage of the first forms of teaching and what this reveals about our asymmetrical perception of the world and its cognitive and practical consequences.
