Child and adolescent victimization is a significant social issue, both in terms of its scope and its serious impact on development as well as the considerable public resources required for intervention. This article outlines the importance of working from the perspective of developmental victimology, which aims to facilitate decision-making and provide robust evidence to inform the design of public policies in the field of violence against children and adolescents. Despite its relevance, the translation of research findings into practice remains a challenge in Spain. Ethical considerations persist, necessitating resolution to ensure the protection of children’s rights in research while also promoting their best interests.
