RESUMEN: Estudio comparativo de las novelas Mario en el foso de los leones Mario en el foso de los leones (1925) de Federico Carlos Sainz de Robles y El convidado de papel (1928) de Benjamín Jarnés. Estas dos obras, que exploran los años de aprendizaje en la institución docente del seminario, son continuadoras del subgénero de «novela de internado», que había alcanzado su plenitud en los escritores españoles de la generación del 14.
ABSTRACT: Comparative study of the novels Mario en el foso de los leones (1925) by Federico Carlos Sainz de Robles and El convidado de papel (1928) by Benjamín Jarnés. These two works, which explore the years of learning in the teaching institution of the seminar, are continuation of the subgenre of “boarding novel,” which had reached its peak in the Spanish writers of the generation of the 14.
