In Sufism visionary experience (ru’ya) is one of the main methods to obtain deep knowledge of reality (?aq?qa). The veridical vision (ru’ya ?ad?qa) and awakened vision (ru’ya fi-l yaq?a) are the main access routes to the imaginal world (‘?lam al-mith?l) and to the vital hermeneutics that emerges from these experiences. This paper gathers and analyzes from a philosophical perspective the experiences of the main figure of the ?ar?qa Tij?niyya, A?mad Tij?ni, and comparing it with Mu?y al-d?n Ibn ‘Arab?'s approaches and experiences to visionary experience.
