Hábitos saudáveis ​​e comportamentos de risco numa amostra de adolescentes da Nicarágua

Resumo

A adolescência é uma fase crítica para o desenvolvimento de hábitos que impactam a saúde a longo prazo. Este estudo focou-se na avaliação de hábitos saudáveis, comportamentos de risco e a sua relação com o índice de massa corporal (IMC) em adolescentes nicaraguenses. Foram examinados fatores como a alimentação, a atividade física, o consumo de substâncias, o sedentarismo e o uso das redes sociais. O inquérito RAPHAEL (Avaliação de Riscos, Saúde Física, Vícios e Vida Emocional) foi aplicado a 233 estudantes do ensino secundário e universitário menores de 18 anos. O IMC foi calculado e classificado de acordo com as normas da OMS. Foram realizadas análises estatísticas para comparar variáveis ​​entre grupos e avaliar associações. O excesso de peso e a obesidade foram mais prevalentes nos estudantes universitários, enquanto os estudantes do ensino secundário relataram mais tempo em atividades sedentárias, mas também mais atividade física. Ambos os grupos apresentaram padrões alimentares semelhantes. Foi observado consumo considerável de álcool e tabaco em ambos os grupos. As descobertas destacam a necessidade de intervenções precoces para promover hábitos saudáveis ​​e prevenir o excesso de peso e a obesidade nos adolescentes nicaraguenses. A relação entre o tempo sedentário, a atividade física e o IMC realça a importância de abordar ambos os aspetos em conjunto. O consumo de álcool e tabaco levanta preocupações sobre os possíveis riscos para a saúde a longo prazo e a necessidade de programas de prevenção.Concluindo, este estudo fornece informações valiosas sobre hábitos de saúde e comportamentos de risco em adolescentes nicaraguenses. Os resultados sugerem a implementação de programas abrangentes de promoção da saúde em ambientes educativos, focados na alimentação saudável, na atividade física, na prevenção do consumo de substâncias e no controlo do peso corporal. A abordagem destes factores é crucial para melhorar a saúde e o bem-estar dos adolescentes na Nicarágua.
