Vocation, Ethos and Education in Ortega y Gasset

In this work we will see the relationship between the concepts of vocation and ethos from the philosophy of Ortega y Gasset. The thesis that we are going to sustain is that the person becomes aware of his vocation or interior call by means of the estimating function: the person feels that call and that the concepts of ethos and vocation coincide, that both point to the same unbribable background of the person. To show that this is so, we will first talk about the problematic nature of life; secondly, we will set out the most important notes of vocation; thirdly, we will say something about of relationship between vocation, ethos and estimative and, in the last part, we will discuss the relationship between vocation, education and circumstance based on careers and professional life.
