Evaluación del malestar asociado a la psicopatología en niños y adolescentes

Resumen

El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar el malestar asociado a la psicopatologi?a en nin?os y adolescentes. La muestra incluyo? 330 sujetos entre 8 y 17 an?os que atendi?an a consulta externa en servicios de salud mental de la red pu?blica de Barcelona (Espan?a), que fueron valorados a trave?s de entrevista diagno?stica estructurada. Una parte significativa de los nin?os que solicitaron tratamiento sufri?an malestar asociado a los si?ntomas psicolo?gicos interiorizados y exteriorizados. El malestar psicolo?gico fue ma?s frecuente en las chicas y entre los adolescentes y tambie?n fue ma?s informado por los propios nin?os y adolescentes que por sus padres. El malestar fue un predictor de la percepcio?n de necesidad de ayuda psicolo?gica y se relaciono? significativamente con los diagno?sticos, condiciones subumbral y deterioro funcional. Los si?ntomas individuales de depresio?n, distimia, ansiedad generalizada y trastorno negativista desafiante fueron los que ma?s estrechamente se asociaron con el malestar psicolo?gico. Dada la importancia del estre?s subjetivo y del deterioro funcional para la identificacio?n y definicio?n de la psicopatologi?a y para la planificacio?n de las intervenciones, la evaluacio?n diagno?stica deberi?a incluir cuestiones referidas al malestar.
