Sexting en adolescentes: su predicción a partir de los problemas emocionales y la personalidad oscura

Resumen

El sexting es la creacio?n y el intercambio de mensajes de texto, videos, ima?genes o fotos con contenido sexual personal usando las nuevas tecnologi?as de la informacio?n. Los objetivos de este estudio fueron analizar la prevalencia del sexting en adolescentes y si existi?an diferencias por ge?nero y edad, por un lado, y examinar si la personalidad oscura y los problemas emocionales eran predictores de los comportamientos de sexting, por el otro. Se constituyo? una muestra intencional de 722 adolescentes entre 12 y 18 an?os (56% varones) de la Ciudad Auto?noma de Buenos Aires y Parana?, Argentina. Los participantes completaron un cuestionario de sexting, medidas de problemas emocionales (depresio?n y ansiedad) y una escala de personalidad oscura. Los resultados indicaron que la prevalencia del sexting fue: 17.6% (mensajes escritos), 18% (fotos), 6.9% videos) y 21.5% (total). Se encontraron diferencias significativas entre varones y mujeres debido a niveles ma?s elevados de los varones en envio? de mensajes escritos y para el total. Tambie?n, a mayor edad de los adolescentes, se incrementaban linealmente los comportamientos de sexting. Se detecto? que la personalidad oscura -el maquiavelismo-, la sintomatologi?a ansiosa y depresiva eran predictores significativos del sexting.
