Abstract

Up to now there is no simple and unanimously accepted explanation about the causes of aging. Maybe, there is no single explanation for them because these causes could have very different origins. Nevertheless, the advance in the knowledge of these causes, however diverse as they are, opens the door to the possibility of a significant extension of life. But all that raises a number of moral and social questions which should be satisfactorily answered.
