Abstract

The seed morphology of 10 species of the genus Erica L. from Galicia (NW of Spain) was studied, utilizing the optical microscope and scanning electron microscope, to determine the significance of seed coat features as taxonomic characters.

The result of this study was the reconigtion of differences in seed morphology within the genus. A key to galician taxa of Erica based on seed morphology is included.
