Abstract

Introduction: The study aimed to analyze the relationship between attention levels and motor coordination in university students from the Physical Activity Sciences and Nursing programs at the Universidad Politécnica Estatal del Carchi. Method and sample: A quantitative, descriptive-correlational, cross-sectional design was applied with a sample of 72 students aged 18 to 28. The d2 Attention Test and the 3JS Motor Coordination Test were used as assessment instruments. Data were processed through descriptive statistics and Spearman’s Rho correlation. Discussion and results:Results indicated predominantly medium levels in selective attention, sustained attention, and motor coordination. Significant positive correlations were found between both attentional dimensions and overall motor coordination (p < 0.01), as well as between global attention and motor performance. Conclusion: It is concluded that attentional capacity and motor coordination share interdependent functional mechanisms, confirming their association in university populations and highlighting the need to promote educational strategies that integrate cognitive and motor stimulation.
