Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The submitted file is in Microsoft Word format and complies with the following formatting specifications: single line spacing, 12-point font size, Baskerville typeface. All illustrations, figures, and tables are embedded within the text in their corresponding locations, rather than placed at the end of the article.

Articles must be written in Spanish, although authors may optionally include the original-language abstract for those articles that were previously translated to comply with the journal’s guidelines. Qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed-methods submissions will be accepted.

Measures will be taken to ensure a blind review, removing information regarding research funding, as well as the authors’ names, surnames, and institutional affiliations. References to works published by the authors must remain anonymous.

The article must be between 6,000 and 8,000 words in length, including the title, keywords, abstracts in Spanish and English, main body, notes, references, and graphic elements. It must not contain non-editable images.

For the “A debate” section, submitted texts must be 3,000–3,500 words in length.

The Spanish abstract must be 300 words long and include 3 to 5 keywords. Bibliographic references must follow APA 7th edition format.

There are two sets of authors’ rights: moral and property rights. Moral rights are perpetual prerogatives, unrenounceable, not-transferable, unalienable, imprescriptible and inembargable. According to authors’ rights legislation, Contrapuntos en Educación recognizes and respects authors moral rights, as well as the ownership of property rights, which will be transferred to University of Malaga in open access.

The property rights are referred to the benefits that are gained by the use or the dissemination of works. Contrapuntos en Educación is published in an open access form and it is exclusively licenced by any means for doing or authorising distribution, dissemination, reproduction, , adaptation, translation or arrangement of works.

Authors are responsable for obtaining the necessary permission to use copyrighted images.
