Abstract

System introduced in the Spanish university in the shelter of Bologna includes changes in teaching methods that force us to rethink the mission of the university professor. There is a strongemphasis on innovation, but not always what is called under this name is a real novelty, forcing us to take into account the tradition and model of the old masters. It is important to distinguish what are mere tools of the aims of higher education, and emphasize that the university professor is characterized by an intellectual vocation of commitment to the truth.
