Abstract

We consider here three kind of ill-fated dreams collected by the physician Rufus of Ephesus (ca. 50-120 AD) in his work Ἰατρικὰ Ἐρωτήματα (Quaestiones medicales). The Greek author explain the necessity that has the doctor in order to make a proper diagnosis, putting the attention not
only on physical symptoms that exhibit the ill-person, but rather on his dreams, especially if these are unsettling or include some kind of hallucinations, becoming cause or effect of physiological upsets. These three medical cases have gone unnoticed in the studies about onirocritic
