Abstract

The philosophy of biology is the branch of the philosophy of science that takes biology as its object of analysis, especially its methodological procedures, its explanatory peculiarities, and its conceptual problems. Its history as a field of study with some autonomy and academic relevance is relatively recent. The philosophy of science, despite referring in its designation generically to any scientific discipline, was focused on the study of physics for almost the entire 20th century.
