Abstract

This issue of the journal Encounters in Biology honored us with its invitation to write a popular science article to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Systems Biology. However, as bad guests, we have to disagree with our host. Although Systems Biology turns one year older every year, this branch of Biology is not entering preadolescence, but is in full maturity and has already been around for several decades. Why do we say this?
