Abstract

Amoebiasis is a parasitic infection that is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in many developing or underdeveloped countries. This article reviews the unique life cycle of this microorganism, the immune system’s response in individuals suffering from this parasitosis, its impact on health, and current therapeutic strategies for the treatment of this disease.
