Abstract

Genome sequencing, since the discovery of DNA as a molecule that carries inheritable genetic informa- tion, has been gaining importance due to the large amount of information that provides and its usefulness in different fields of science.  This article begins  a series that reviews nucleic acid sequencing methods. The   first sequencing methods allowed the fundamental advancement of Molecular Biology, opened the doors for the development of new sequencing technologies and started the development of new scientific disciplines  that today have great repercussions such as Genomics and Transcriptomics.
