Abstract

Vaccines are the most important and powerful weapons in the fight against infectious diseases. After the first vaccine, developed by Jenner against smallpox many vaccines against different infectious diseases have been developed allowing the prevention of death of many human beings, especially during infancy. However, in the last years there has been a current of scepticism and fear against vaccines that has produced a decrease  in the vaccination of the infant population with the associated risks of this behaviour. This current must be contrasted with true information about the importance of vaccines.
