The seasonal variations of epiphytic communities on several macrophytes were studied during 1988 in some lakes of Catalonia (N.E. of Spain). A total of 204 taxa were recorded. A rich algal flora was observed mainly in spring and early summer. Among them, the Cyanophyceae, Bacillariophyceae and Chlorophyceae were the most important groups. In autumn, a floristic richness strongly decreased.
