Diversidad de líquenes saxícolas de los Montes de Toledo (Castilla-La Mancha, España)
Keywords:
Vertical walls, rocks, species richness, lichenized funghi, Mediterranean basinAbstract
The results of a study on the diversity of saxicolous lichens in Montes de Toledo are presented. In total, 211 species have been identified, 45 are recorded for the first time in Castilla-La Mancha and other 40 are new records from Montes de Toledo. The substrates with the highest number of species were quartzite (128 species) and slates (104 species), while granite and limestone rocks hold less species (53 and 27 species, respectively). The vertical quartzite walls in humid, exposed and north-facing areas harbored a high number of lichen species, including the presence of some species that are more frequent in northern Spain, such as, Acolium marcianum, Buellia aethalea, Lecidea lithophila, Pleopsidium chlorophanum, Porpidia platycarpoides, P. superba, Psilolechia lucida, Spilonema revertens, Thelomma siliceum or Umbilicaria hyperborea. These taxa, are restricted to a few localities or are even absent in the Mediterranean region.
