Abstract

Just as globalization has demolished borders to connect individuals from all around the world, it has also dismantled the elements that construct human identity through culture, both at a social and individual level. In this way, this article argues, through the study of contemporary artistic practices, how it is becoming evident that individuals in Western society, having been deprived of the restraints provided by cultural tradition, are connecting with their most primal aspect as a species and clinging to nature in an attempt to rediscover their identity.
