Sonia Ríos

Full Professor of Art History (2017), Ph.D. in Art History (2004), and recipient of the Extraordinary Doctorate Award (2008) for the doctoral thesis "La crítica sobre diseño gráfico español en las revistas de arte comercial y publicidad (1900-1970)" (The critique of Spanish graphic design in commercial and advertising art magazines, 1900-1970).

Graduated in Fine Arts (Specialization in Advertising Drawing, 1995), she teaches at the Faculties of Philosophy and Letters and the School of Industrial Engineering at the University of Malaga. In her courses, she covers topics related to the history and theory of design and editorial industry.

From 1999 to 2004, she worked as a professional in graphic design, and since 2003, she has been researching various aspects of design from the perspective and methodology of an art historian. Additionally, she explores artistic and cultural manifestations of the 20th century in conjunction with design in its multiple facets. She has actively participated in projects, courses, seminars, and conferences, both nationally and internationally, disseminating her research findings.
