Matthias Laschke
Matthias Laschke leads the Chair for Interaction Design for Transformation and Sustainability at the University of Siegen. His research, along with his team, primarily centers on behavior change in HCI, emphasizing sustainability and transformation. Additional areas of focus include experience design, affective computing, and interaction with agentive technologies (Otherware) in digital and tangible forms.
Over the past twelve years, he has tackled challenges in persuasive technologies, covering sustainability, procrastination, willpower, and adherence. His work spans diverse areas, including design theory, methodological approaches, autonomous and learning systems (e.g., in cars), work motivation (e.g., in healthcare), and innovation strategies with technology development. Leading various research projects, including those funded by BMBF and Leitmarkt, he currently heads the BMBF research group MOVEN.
His publications, presented at relevant national and international conferences and journals, are peer-reviewed. Widely recognized, his work has been featured in national and international blogs, best-selling books like Evgeny Morozov's "To Save Everything, Click Here," and major magazines such as the New York Times, Wired, Fast Company, and the R&D Salon of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Notably, his contributions are part of the permanent collection at the Deutsche Museum, the world's largest science and technology museum.
