The aim of this work is to reinterpret and to edit a complex magical inscription (AE 1939, 136) from Furnos Maius (Roman province of Africa Proconsularis). Intended to protect the fields from hail, its text incorporates a blend of indigenous, Roman and Christian elements, many of which have not been documented until now. Thus, among other new readings, the inscription unveils a significant amount of previously undiscovered local microtoponymy.
