Notes on the Lexicon of Erotic Spells: The Motif of Blood Drainage
DOI:

The article focuses on a motif appearing in some texts of erotic magic – the victim’s deadly bleeding – that is expressed with some particular verbs of uncommon use. The topic will be addressed first from the perspective of the relationship between magic and medicine (as emerges above all from the significant number of iatromagical spells of the Greco-Roman period), and then from a psychological perspective.
