Abstract

The absorption of nitrogen (N), whether in inorganic or organic form, is crucial for plants as it allows the  assimilation and biosynthesis of all nitrogenous compounds. In this article, we will focus on reviewing the transporters that facilitate the absorption of the main nitrogen sources and address the assimilation process in plants, as well as the mobilization of amino acids from source tissues to sink tissues.
