The Translation of the Aleph: The Tiny Universe of E. Nesbit in editorial Calleja

This article focuses on the immediate forerunners of the Aleph described by Jorge Luis Borges. The aim is to analyse how the vision of the Aleph is translated from the Anglo-Saxon culture of the beginning of the XXth century — Edith Nesbit (1858- 1924) — to Spanish culture in the 1920 — translations of her fantastic tales in the editorial Calleja. The analysis of these translations has meant to the research two fundamental challenges: first, to detect that the stories published by the« editorial Calleja actually belonged to the British writer E. Nesbit and locate a possible translator; and secondly to compare how the vision of the Aleph is translated from one culture to the other.
