The Passion and the Habit of Nemesis in the Work of Thomas Aquinas

nemesis, passion, habit, Thomas AquinasAbstract
Nemesis is the sadness caused by the undeserved prosperity of others. Unlike other passions and virtues, Thomas Aquinas did not dedicate a singular treatment to Nemesis in his work; rather, he mentions it occasionally or in connection with other themes. The objective of our work is to identify all these references and give them a unified meaning within Thomistic thought, particularly distinguishing the use of Nemesis as a passion and as a habit (or potential virtue of distributive justice).
