Abstract

Urban Identity is a subject that has been studied from many perspectives, but its relation with the graphic design as visual expression has been rarely considered. City Branding and Information Design represent the areas, which with the most frequency have approached the issue of graphic design in the cities. This paper does a presentation of the way in which these disciplines link themselves, departing from its basic definitions and exposing the authors and the most relevant initiatives, in order to identify the influence of graphic design in the conformation of the urban identity.
