Abstract

Throughout Raymond Loewy's long career, and among all his collaborators, it is worth highlighting the role played by Elizabeth Reese, who became his director of advertising and image and eventually became Loewy's partner. Audrey Moore Hodges and Helen Dryden, designers who took the reins of the Studebaker designs, one of the most recognized works in the designer's entire oeuvre, stand out.

In order to better understand Loewy himself, and to recognize and acknowledge the merits of those who helped him achieve such heights of recognition and popularity, we seek to recover the memory of these three figures who had such an influence on the company in the fields of advertising, communication, and design. These female talents played a key role over the years and were recognized by the great French-American designer by granting them important roles within his companies.
