Abstract

A graphic designer by profession, Paco Bascuñán's work is nevertheless difficult to categorise, accustomed as we were to his interstitial situation and his talent for moving fluidly between painting and illustration, between illustration and photography, between photography and typography and, in short, between art and design. His unique methodology, his research habits and his voracious propensity for creation in all the fields within his reach make Bascuñán an exceptional figure, with multiple and varied registers, not easy to find in the world of graphic design and only comparable to the profile of some of the avant-garde artists such as Schwitters, Rodchenko or El Lissitzky, whom he admired so much and with whom we can recognise certain affinities not only formal but also conceptual.
