Man as a Work of Art: the Reasons why J. Beuys’ Actions didn’t work

Freedom is not always understood in the same way; according to a “strong sense” freedom is the human ability to give shape, to create. Romanticism, embeded in alchemical tradition among others, refers to freedom as a creative skill related to reality and to the existence of different levels of being. Consequently, freedom is what let us recognise our own creative and regenerating powers and giving us also the sense of fulfilment but, instead of producing real changes, the artist created symbols. His mechanical and chemical models from universe prevented him from getting a true change.
