RESUMEN
En este artículo se presentan una serie de consideraciones que destacan la dimensión filosófico-política del pensamiento de Tocqueville y apuntana una lectura diferente de "La Democracia en América". Este sentido, se trata de ilustrar la relevancia de la reflexión tocquevilleana como punto de referencia en el diagnóstico sobre los problemas actuales de la democracia liberal, así como en los correctuvos de inspiración republicana que se proponen para su resolución. El artículo se acompaña de un repertorio bibliográfico seleccionado sobre la obra de Tocqueville.

ABSTRACT
This article presents a series of considerations that emphasize Tocqueville´s political philosophy dimension and point at a differente interpretation of "The Democracy in America". In this sense it shows up the relevance of the tocquevillian reflection as a reference in the diagnosis on the liberal democracy´s current problems, as well as the republican inspired correctives that are proposed here. The article includes a selected bibliographic list about Tocqueville´s works.
