RESUMEN
La vida humana es esencialmente política y social. En la cultura occidental greco-romana la sociedad es considerada como el medio que vincula al hombre con la Naturaleza. El liberalismo, concebido como autonomía del hombre frente a la sociedad, constituye un periodo intermedio hasta el resurgir del concepto de persona, sólo plenamente posible en una sociedad democrática.

ABSTRACT
Human life is essentially political and social. In Western Greco-Roman culture, society is deemed to be the médium that binds man to Nature. Liberalism, understood as man´s autonomy against society, represents an intermediate period till the emergence of the concept of person, which is only fully possible in a democractic society.
