ABSTRACT
Kant´s biblical interpretation is always a moral exegesis. For this reason, we shall asume that the principle of moral pertinence is the supreme principle of Kant´s sacred hermeneutics, as it gives primacy in the interpretation of texts to the moral meaning over any other meaning, be it mystical, metaphysical or literal. Kant´s sacred hermeutics seems to be rooted in pietism. From this religious movement it is likely that he adopted the idea of insisting on the practical content of any biblical interpretation. Thus, Kant´s interpretation of the evangelical Jesus is a good example of this moral exegesis.
